900g flank steak, cut into strips
1 onion, thinly sliced
For the Marinade
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
Juice of 1 lemon, plus zest
1 tbsp A Spice Affair’s Shawarma Seasoning
¼ tbsp A Spice Affair’s Sweet Paprika
½ tbsp Pink Himalayan Salt
4 garlic cloves, crushed
For the Tahini Sauce
½ cup tahini paste
⅓ cup lemon juice
2 garlic cloves, crushed
½ tsp Pink Himalayan Salt
¼ cup water
Pita or saj bread
Pickles or pickled turnips
1 onion, thinly sliced & seasoned with ½ tsp A Spice Affair's Sumac
Fresh parsley (optional)
- In a large container, mix marinade ingredients together until well combined. Add in the beef strips and sliced onions, stir to evenly coat, then let marinate in the fridge for 1 hour.
- Place a large pan over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 8 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through.
- In a small bowl or blender, combine the tahini sauce ingredients (except water) and mix until smooth. Slowly add the water until you get the desired consistency.
- May serve in a plate or as a wrap.
For the plate, spread hummus over the plate and top with beef shawarma and vegetables. Drizzle the shawarma with tahini sauce and dip away!
For the wrap, place pita or saj bread over serving plate and layer with tahini sauce or hummus, beef shawarma, and vegetables. Toast the shawarma wrap and enjoy!
