INGREDIENTS
For the dough
-
1 tsp white sugar
-
2 tsp active dry yeast
-
1/2 cup warm water
-
1/2 cup milk
-
1/4 cup unsalted butter
-
1/4 cup white sugar
-
1 tsp salt
-
2 eggs, room temperature
-
4 cups flour
For the filling
-
3/4 cup brown sugar
-
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
-
1/2 cup melted butter
Cream Cheese Frosting:
-
1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
-
1/2 cup cream cheese, room temp
-
1 1/4 cup icing sugar
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
2-3 tbsp milk
-
1/4 tsp salt
PREPARATION
1. Prepare the yeast mixture
In a bowl, dissolve the white sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
2. Warm the milk and spices
In a small saucepan, heat the milk, unsalted butter, and Golden Booster A Spice Affair until it reaches a gentle simmer. Remove from heat, whisk in sugar and salt, and let cool slightly.
3. Make the dough
In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk together the yeast mixture, the milk mixture, and eggs. Attach the dough hook and add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. When the dough comes together, turn it onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes).
4. First rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, turn to coat, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
5. Roll and fill
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it into an 18x14” rectangle. Spread the melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and ground cinnamon, leaving a 1/2” border all around.
6. Shape the rolls
Tightly roll the dough lengthwise and pinch the seam to seal. Slice into 2” rolls and place them cut-side down in a buttered baking dish.
7. Second rise
Cover and let the rolls rise for another hour.
8. Bake
Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 23–25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before removing from pan.
9. Frost and serve
Top with cream cheese frosting and enjoy every gooey bite!
