KOREAN BEEF BBQ

An adaptation of Alvin Zhou’s recipe from Tasty
Servings: 2
INGREDIENTS
  • 680g rib eye steak, or any other dry-aged beef or tender cut
  • 1 onion, ½  chopped and ½  thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ½ pear, peeled and chopped
  • 3 tbsp Korean BBQ Seasoning
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp of oil (vegetable, coconut or butter)
  • 3 green onions, 1 roughly chopped for marination and 2 sliced into rounds (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seed, for garnish
  • 2 cups cooked rice, for serving
  • Banchan Korean side dish, for serving (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cut the beef in thin slices. You may freeze the beef for 30 min to make the slicing easier
  2. Blend the chopped onion, garlic, pear, green onions, Korean BBQ Seasoning, soy sauce, and sesame oil in a blender until smooth
  3. In a bowl, mix the beef, the marinade and thinly sliced onion. Keep mixing until coated evenly. Let marinate in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes or overnight
  4. In a large pan, heat the oil over medium-high. Using kitchen paper, pat the meat to remove excess marination
  5. Cook the marinated beef with onions until browned (2-3 minutes per side)
  6. Garnish with the sliced green onions and sesame seeds
  7. Serve with rice and Banchan (optional)

Bon appétit!
