Ingredients
For the meat
- 500 g shredded beef (slow-cooked shoulder or chuck)
- 1 to 2 tbsp Mexican Birria Seasoning A Spice Affair
- 1 tbsp oil
For the sauce (blended)
- 2 ripe tomatoes
- 1 small white onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp Mexican Birria Seasoning A Spice Affair
- 250 ml beef cooking broth (or hot water)
- 1 tbsp white or apple cider vinegar
- Salt, to taste
For garnishing
- 6 corn tortillas
- ½ red onion, chopped
- Fresh chopped cilantro
- Cotija or feta cheese, crumbled
- Lime wedges
Preparation
1. Prepare meat and sauce
Mix the shredded beef with Mexican Birria Seasoning A Spice Affair and oil. Set aside. In a blender, combine tomatoes, onion, garlic, Mexican Birria Seasoning A Spice Affair, broth, vinegar, and salt. Blend until smooth.
2. Heat and assemble
Reheat the seasoned meat in a skillet for a few minutes. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet. Fill each tortilla with beef, chopped red onion, cilantro, and cheese.
3. Serve
Serve with lime wedges and the Birria sauce on the side for dipping.
