I am a traditional Japanese spice commonly used to flavour seafood, eel and grilled chicken. My peppercorns are small and dark green. I can be ground to be sprinkled on a variety of Asian dishes. You may not know it, I am actually unripe Sichuan pepper, but my flavour is very different. My aromas and top notes are more citrusy and lively. Add me to stir-fries, soups and marinades for a unique mouthfeel of heat, tingle and numbness.
